Fergie: Blues Are Out Of Sight
Alex Ferguson reckons he has more chance of winning the Champions League than catching runaway leaders Chelsea in the Premiership. Fergie, whose side trail Chelsea by 10 points, said: “They are in a very strong position. They are relentless. In the Champions League we need to negotiate another 13 matches to win it — but in the Premiership it is another 30. We just have to try to stay in the slipstream of Chelsea and hope they slip up.”

Ballacks To You Bayern
Michael Ballack will tomorrow spark a bidding war between Manchester United and Real Madrid by confirming he will not sign a new contract at Bayern Munich. The Germany playmaker will tell Bayern he is off after the Bundesliga giants refused to bow to his demands for a pay rise to £120,000 per week. And Ballack's decision to turn his back on German football after next summer's World Cup will force Malcolm Glazer to prove he really wants to bankroll the Old Trafford team's renaissance.

Mour Like Alex Says Beckham
David Beckham last night paid Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho the ultimate compliment saying: You're just like Fergie! The England skipper said: "Mourinho is the one who takes all the pressure and that is very important. It's what Sir Alex was like when I was at United. When you've got someone like that you're able to go out on the pitch and not worry about anything else."

Giggs Suffers Broken Cheekbone
The Welsh winger sustained the injury during a mid-air collision with one of the Lille defenders during the second half of United's Champions League stalemate.Despite trying to play on, he was substituted six minutes from time and headed straight down the tunnel with the club doctor."Ryan suffered an elbow under his eye," Sir Alex Ferguson told reporters after the match."We didn't realise the full extent of the injury otherwise we would have taken him off straight away."It's too early to say exactly what we will do or how long he will be out for."It was a disappointing end to a momentous evening for Giggs who made his 100th European appearance in a red shirt.

Fergie Is Pointing Way For Referees
Sir Alex Ferguson has called on referees to be braver in awarding penalties - to put some excitement back into football. With Liverpool still smarting from being denied a blatant spot-kick in their Champions League stalemate with Chelsea, the United boss believes officials have become too cautious in their penalty decisions. Ferguson said: "I hope referees will relax and lose a little of their caution that is seeing them refusing to give penalty kicks. They seem to have adopted a mindset that has them going for the safety-first option. I don't deny it is difficult, but I would like to see referees return to the days when it was the attackers who got the benefit of the doubt."

Oh, Not You Again
Wayne Rooney will face another major test of his temperament in England's final World Cup group tie, with Kim Milton Nielson refereeing the Poland clash. Rooney was sent off by the Dane for sarcastically clapping him on being shown a yellow card during United's Champions League against Villarreal and also reported for using foul language. The 19-year-old is banned for the game with Austria on October 8 at Old Trafford, but will return to the side for the final qualifier against the Poles.

Reds Track Valencia Pair
Martin Ferguson, Sir Alex's brother, was scouting when Barcelona entertained Valencia last week. The objects of his attention were believed to be visiting winger Vicente and his team-mate, Portuguese defender Marco Caneira.
