Chelsea slip in EPL, but dash Newcastle's hope in FA cup
Chelsea stumbled to the cottagers in the weekend to give a glimmer of hope to Manchester United, who are currently 12 points behind the blues with a game in hand. United, who beat W.B.A. 2-1 at the hawthorns thanks to a Louis Saha double could reduce the gap to 9 points if they win their game in hand against West Ham and further reduce it to six should they succeed in beating Chelsea at stamford bridge in the second last fixture of the season. Although the task of overtaking Chelsea seems like a possiblility, Manchester United's remaining fixtures see them face to face with firing gunners at old trafford. For Chelsea, any other slip ups will only encourage united to continue pursuing them at the top of the EPL. For the red devils, they would need chelsea to lose 2 matches and either draw one before their stamford bridge meeting or score around 18 goals and hope Chelsea's goal difference do not get better by the game. But on the bright side, if the two teams current form continues, Manchester United will edge out chelsea for the premiership title. But that is an extremely unlikely outcome.
Elsewhere, liverpool beat newcastle 3-1 to continue their chase for 2nd spot and auto qualification to the champions league.
Tottenham beat Birmingham 2-0 to overtake Arsenal for the final champions league position after the gunners slammed 3 goals past Charlton earlier in the day.
The battle for the UEFA cup spots are heating up as Bolton and Wigan knock on the door for Blackburn's UEFA cup spot next season.
At the bottom, things are heating up, with Portsmouth being the only team to win in the bottom 5, Harry's men could still do the impossible and stay up.
