Cisse, who has been selected for the French squad for the World Cup finals, revealed that he had come close to signing for Marseille last season but it had been brought to a halt by Liverpool.
"I had very strong contacts with Marseille last summer and winter.
"It was about to come to a positive solution but Liverpool were against me moving. At Marseille they thought it was me who didn't want to come but that was not a tall the case."

Wayne Rooney has made the ‘perfect recovery’ from his metatarsal injury according to England’s doctor. It confirms Manchester United striker Roo will be fit for the World Cup group games — as Sunsport revealed on Saturday. England medic Dr Leif Sward said last night: "Everything points to a perfect recovery. I have the highest hopes for Rooney and the World Cup. Queiroz: I Want The United Job
Carlos Queiroz has rejected the chance to become Benfica coach because he has his sights set on succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
